Saâdane Afif's 'The Skull'

I recently visited the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, where i caught 'French Window' a major exhibition of contemporary art from France. The show was brilliant and there is one particular work i had to share. At first glance of Saâdane Afif's 'The Skull' i was immediately engaged, but didn't quite understand the titles reference. After reading the didactic I observed the chrome balls closely.
