Hi-Fi is holding a FREE show at their front bar tomorrow, Wednesday 9th March (opening 8:00pm)
First act (and one not to be missed) is Sky Needle, a conceptual Brisbane based rock band. This artistic outfit performs improvised primitive music, producing eerie, hypnotic sounds. And did I mention they play on home-made instruments? Made by the members themselves!! RAD...Check 'em out http://skyneedle.org
Following suit is Syrian musician Omar Souleyman. His tunes are a modernized blend of old musics that collide in the modern Middle East. He draws from Kurdish and Turkic music, Iraqi choubi, and the dabke, a broad regional Arab folk style that grew out of a celebratory line dance. OMAR has 500+ releases to his name, several tours of Europe and the US under his belt, and has around five hundred studio and live albums released under his name. WHO-WEE!
